The Pat Benson Boxing Academy is proud to boast excellent multi purpose facilities, which sets us apart not only from other regional clubs, but from many across the UK. With 3 competition sized boxing rings, a separate strength and conditioning training facility, an IT and classroom suite, along with a large bag and circuit area, separate male, female and disable access toilet facilities, members of one of the country’s most historic clubs can now train and benefit from an excellent sporting experience.
Many hard hours were invested in preparing a funding bid to the Sport England Inspired Facilities fund back in Autumn 2012 and the feedback from funders was very positive. £50,000 was awarded to improve our club facility, enabling us to offer a wider and more diverse set of training programmes, whilst of course improving the quality of experience enjoyed by our competitive and successful boxing squad.
So far, the changes have paid off, with some of the sport’s finest names taking advantage of the modern interior, which is based in a Birmingham factory unit, therefore retaining the old school feel of sweat and tears which enables the club to progress their production line of champions.
Nathan Cleverly, Bradley Saunders, Jamie Moor and our former amateur star Matthew Macklin have all showcased their talents in the Digbeth club, enabling our young stars the chance to train and learn of world class professionals.
